This Bible-based trauma healing training uses the book Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help and its associated program model, a proven approach using applied Scripture and best mental health principles, to address spiritual and emotional wounds caused by the trauma of war, ethnic conflicts, natural disasters, abuse, and similar events. The book has been translated and taught in over 100 countries with more than 195 language groups in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas.
In this initial equipping session, participants learn basic biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care. The purpose of this trauma healing session is twofold: 1) to have an opportunity to experience healing of any wounds you may be carrying, and 2) to gain the competencies needed to lead a Trauma Healing ministry. Mental health professionals can benefit from this practical approach that is effective with groups cross-culturally. This session is appropriate for caregivers who will work in the USA or internationally.
Certification as a trauma healing facilitator is based on your skills in the five core competencies: able to facilitate in a participatory way, able to work on a team, able to help traumatized people, knowledge of the materials, and able to manage personal well-being. While certification is not a guarantee, most people will gain valuable skills in trauma care for both themselves and others through attending this training.
Necessary qualifications:
- Fluent in English
- Able to attend each day of the training (certificates will only be granted to those who do so)
- At least 18 years old
- Committed to help trauma survivors and able to dedicate ~2 weeks per year to trauma healing
- Able to teach others, manage own wellbeing, work on a team, and learn to lead groups in a participatory way
